A receptor such as the PDGF (platlet-derived
growth factor) receptor can have an effect on
numerous substrates. Substrates of the PDGF
receptors include the Ras protein (see D), the
Src protein (the name is derived fromthe tumor,
a sarcoma, in which it was first found), phospholipase
C (a signal transmitter), and others.
